The legal drama continues for Aereo, the startup company that has be entrenched in lawsuits brought by various broadcasters including CBS, NBC, Fox and ABC since March of 2012. The company’s infamous technology uses an antennae farm to capture over-the-air TV signals and transmits broadcasts to subscribers’ digital devices. After the 2nd Circuit denied an injunction, the broadcasters turned to the Supreme Court to seek review. At issue is whether Aereo’s system violates their public performance rights. Aereo’s contention has been and remains that its service is “private” in nature. Aereo agreed that the case should be heard by the high court to avoid needless future litigation across the country.
